Day 41 - Do not leave your post

READING

  • Genesis 41
  • Psalms 41
  • Ecclesiastes 10
  • Mark 13

MESSAGE

Ecclesiastes 10 : 4

If the spirit of the ruler rises against you,
Do not leave your post;
For conciliation pacifies great offenses.

God is teaching me today the value of humility, patience and submission to authority. For an innumerable times, I've been caught into an argument with my boss about how she manages her business. I almost came to the point of quitting my job because I felt that the culture of dishonesty at my workplace is slowly transforming me into a liar monster. I still have that same struggle as before but I am not leaving my post because I know God has put me here for a purpose. I realized it's the best place to share God's Word and influence them to do what is right, what is honest, and what is fair. From time to time, I am sharing the Word by posting Bible verses on our log book so every one can see it. I feel glad whenever I hear reactions from them about how the verse strikes them and how it affects them.

Whenever the spirit of the ruler (my boss of course) rises against me, I quietly fight with my Sword of the Spirit and bear with her anger patiently. Lately, I wrote her a letter to say that I might need to get to the other side of the fence if I won't be able to get my PR papers processed soon, ... and my boss humbly told, "you know I can't afford to loose you;" that was my last  attempt to quit.

PROMISE

Ecclesiastes 10 : 7

I have seen servants on horses,
While princes walk on the ground like servants.

This happened to me many times at work when people ask me if I am the manager or the hotel owner. Of course I do not take the credits, I always point to my boss and say, "No, she's the boss."

God honors all our hard works through the praises and appreciations of people.

COMMAND

Ecclesiastes 10 : 20

Do not curse the king, even in your thought;
Do not curse the rich, even in your bedroom;
For a bird of the air may carry your voice,
And a bird in flight may tell the matter.

WARNING

Ecclesiastes 10 : 8

He who digs a pit will fall into it,
And whoever breaks through a wall will be bitten by a serpent.

APPLICATION

Patience is a virtue, and I am a virtuous person. :) I have know my boss for about three years now so I perfectly know how to handle her anger. The only application that I can think of is to share to my colleague the lesson of Ecclesiastes 10:4. I think it should be one of the memory verses for all foreign workers. :P

I will continue my Verse of the Day thing on our log book. I know it's getting effective so I'll probably do it more frequent, like at least twice a week.

For he has no one to help him up.

READING

  • Genesis 33
  • Psalms 33
  • Ecclesiastes 2
  • Mark 5

MESSAGE

Ecclesiastes 2 : 24 & 26

24. The best thing we can do is to enjoy eating, drinking, and working. I believe these are God's gifts to us,

26. If we please God, he will make us wise, understanding, and happy. But if we sin, God will make us struggle for a living, then he will give all we own to someone who pleases him. This makes no more sense than chasing the wind. (CEVUK - Contemporary English Version UK)

God is sending me a brief message today, God can ease out all my struggles if I will continue to please Him otherwise struggle will continue on. Ecclesiastes Chapter 2 is teaching a basic lesson in life - enjoy life while it lasts. Don't worry much about piling up riches as all the produce of my labor are not eternal. I would have to leave everything when I get finished with my life on earth. What is important is I enjoy the life that I am living. God wants me to enjoy my life.

PROMISE

26. If we please God, he will make us wise, understanding, and happy. But if we sin, God will make us struggle for a living, then he will give all we own to someone who pleases him. This makes no more sense than chasing the wind. (CEVUK)

I will do my best to please God in everything I do so that my efforts will not return void in the end. I don't want to struggle much, Lord.

Generally, the whole chapter two of Ecclesiastes is basically teaching me to learn how to enjoy life. Therefore, I will not deprive myself of any opportunity that I know will make me happy and contribute to my life;s satisfaction.

Day 30 - "Name your wages, and I will give it."

READING
  • Genesis 30
  • Psalms 30
  • Proverbs 30
  • Mark 2

MESSAGE

Genesis 30 : 27 - 28

And Laban said to him, "Please stay, if I have found favor in your eyes, for I have learned by experience that the Lord has blessed me for your sake."

28. Then he said, "Name me your wages, and I will give it."

God is showing me one important thing about my current dealings through the life of Jacob. Jacob stayed and remained faithful to his employer and father-in-law, Laban. In return, Laban returned to him the favor by being open to whatever rewards that he would ask of Laban. As to my current work situation, God is telling me to stay put and wait for the right timing to do the bargaining agreement. I know I will get to that point where my boss will tell me "Name your wages, and I will give it."

PROMISE

28. Then he said, "Name me your wages, and I will give it."

COMMAND

WARNING

APPLICATION

I will stay put and be more patient about my current work situation. God knows how much I enjoy not all the manipulation, deception, and exploitation  that I have been experiencing here at my workplace. But I still hold on to His promise that He has a great plan why He put me here. Most of my friends and all the people around me, even my guests-turned-friend, are telling me to go and leave and find a better job that I deserve and where I'll be happy with; but my God who is above all situation, is telling me to be patient and stay.

I will choose to listen and trust my God at all times and in every situation.

PRAYER

Lord thank You for demonstrating to me how You will reward faithfulness... as You have shown in the life of Jacob when he chose to remain with his employer. Give me more strength and patience that I can endure all the heart pains, and open my heart and my eyes that I can see how brokenness  can make me stronger in heart and in spirit. Lead me Lord and walk me through 'til I get to that place you intended for me.

Day 29 - Do not ignore it, otherwise...

READING
  • Genesis 29
  • Psalms 29
  • Proverbs 29
  • Mark 1
MESSAGE

Proverbs 29 : 1

He who is often rebuked,
and hardens his neck
Will suddenly be destroyed,
and without remedy.

God is warning me today not to be stubborn and hardheaded about His rebukes... or else ...a great warning of destruction awaits..and there is no remedy.

PROMISE

23. A man's pride will bring him low,
But the humble in spirit will retain honor.

COMMAND

WARNING

1. He who is often rebuked,
and hardens his neck
Will suddenly be destroyed,
and without remedy.

APPLICATION

The whispering evil's attack are so hard to ignore sometimes, but I will be firm and keep my trust in the Lord who is mightier. I will never listen to the devil's deception that I am always bound to do sin because that is my human nature. Most of the times, I become so discouraged to realize that I am living a sin and repent cycle. But I know and I strongly believe that God is changing me day by day. This is not easy but I know God will see me through.

PRAYER

Lord, I do not want to "harden my neck" on your rebukes. Give me a humble heart and purge me of my pride that pulls me down whenever I tried to walk straight with you. Help me, Lord.

Day 27 - Give me a strong heart, O Lord

READING

  • Genesis 27
  • Psalms 27
  • Proverbs 27
  • Matthew 27

MESSAGE

Psalms 27 : 1

The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?

On my recent undertakings, God is reminding me of His great power, that I should not be afraid of anything and that He will light my path and strengthen me all through the seasons of my life.

PROMISE

5. For in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His pavilion;
In the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall set me high upon a rock.

COMMAND

14. Wait on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord.

WARNING

APPLICATION

I will keep on and continue waiting for God's perfect time. Most of the times I am tempted to generate a Plan B, my own wise plan,  though God clearly told me on my devotions that He wanted me to wait and stay put. Frustration comes along whenever I would realize that I can easily resolve the problem if I will push on my will and my plan but I know God has always a better way of doing things. I will be still and I will remain trusting to my great God.

I will... stay on my current work, though I can strongly feel now the attacks of the enemy through the life of my co-workers and my boss. I should not fear any of them for He, my God and my true Employer, shall set me high upon the rock.

PRAYER

Lord, keep me strong and help me keep my faith in You as constant. I know you will hide me under the shadow of Your wings and protect me from the attacks of my enemies. Keep me brave and courageous.  Give me a strong heart.

Day 28 - Confess and forsake

READING
  • Genesis 28
  • Psalms 28
  • Proverbs 28
  • Matthew 28

MESSAGE

13. He who covers his sins will not prosper,

But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.

God is again telling me today not to cover up nor hide iniquities but instead confess and forsake them for me to experience prosperity and mercy.

PROMISE

14. Happy is the man who is always reverent,
But he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.

18. Whoever walks blamelessly will be saved,
But he who is perverse in his ways will suddenly fall.

25. He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife,
But he who trusts in the Lord will be prospered.

26. He who trusts in his own heart is a fool,
But whoever walks wisely will be delivered.

COMMAND

WARNING

14. Happy is the man who is always reverent,
But he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.

18. Whoever walks blamelessly will be saved,
But he who is perverse in his ways will suddenly fall.

APPLICATION

Most of the times, I tend to forget and hide all the ill doings I have done in the past. Later on, this skeletons haunt me and overpower me to revisit what had happened in the past and unknowingly recommit them again. Verse 13 is showing me the key how to totally get rid of it all, CONFESS and FORSAKE. Forsaking is not an easy task as it takes a lot of effort, courage and perseverance to resist the call of human flesh. Confessing is not easy either as this will mean baring off my angel mask and revealing all the blemishes that I kept hiding ever since. I know this is a hard thing to do, but I know God will help me. I got my confession partner now to help me through in venting out all this undesirable bullets in my history. God is merciful, He understands and and he cares for me.

PRAYER

Lord help me to confess not only to you but to my confession partner all that I have done in the past that kept me from moving and prospering. Take my pride off, ground me and pound me that I can be pulverized and smoothen, and be fine enough so You my potter can reform me in to the shape that You wanted me to be.

Day 26 - It's just a joke!

READING

  • Genesis 26
  • Psalms 26
  • Proverbs 26
  • Matthew 26

MESSAGE

18. Like a madman who throws fire brands, arrows, and death,

19. Is the man who deceives his neighbor,
And says, "I was only joking!"

God hit me with this one as I am a jester.  I love throwing out jokes to people who are within my close circle. But God is teaching me today to be careful with my words and my jokes as I might be hurting other people without realizing it.

PROMISE

10.
The great God who formed everything
Gives the fool his hire and the transgressor his wages.

COMMAND

25. When he speaks  kindly,
do not believe him,
For there are seven abominations in his heart;

WARNING

27. Whoever digs a pit will fall into it,
And he who rolls a stone will have it rolls back on him.

APPLICATION

From now on, if I have nothing good to say, I will quiet down and zip my mouth.

And to be on guard, I will ask my accountability partner to be critical and watchful with my words, its implications and connotations. I might be using some words that might have a different connotation or cultural/emotional association to others.

PRAYER

Lord, thank You for reminding me about this area of my communication window. I know joking is fun and it brings out laughter to everybody but sometimes it can be damaging too. I don't want to be the source of hurt of other people, please help me flush down this not so good habit from  my communication system. Help me to keep my mouth and my thoughts clean and pleasing before You. Amen.

Day 25 - To Whispering Evil : Weh? Shut Up!

READING

  • Genesis 25
  • Psalms 25
  • Proverbs 25
  • Matthew 25

MESSAGE

Psalms 25 : 2, 4 - 7, 20 - 21

2. O my God, I trust in You;
Let me not be ashamed;
Let not my enemies triumph over me.

4. Show me Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths.

5. Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation;
On You I wait all the day.

7. Do not remember the sins of my youth,
nor my transgressions;
According to Your mercy remember me,
For Your goodness' sake, O Lord.

20. Keep my soul, and deliver me;
Let me not be ashamed, for I put my trust in You.

21. Let integrity and uprightness preserve me,
For I wait for You.

Like the psalmist, the prayer of my heart is the same. God affirms the integrity of His promise to all who trust and wait on Him. He will never put me to shame if I remain trusting in Him. He will  show me His ways and His covenant, and will reveal His secret.  He will keep and preserve me, and no enemies will triumph over me.

PROMISE

Proverbs 25 : 12 -14

12. Who is the man that fears the Lord?

Him shall He teach in the way He chooses.

13. He himself shall dwell in prosperity,

And his descendants shall inherit the earth.

14. The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him,

And He will show them His covenant.

COMMAND

WARNING

APPLICATION

Whispering evil? Weh? Hmpff shut up!
The fear of the Lord do not just bring wisdom, it also makes  us dwell in prosperity and attached blessing to all of our succeeding generations. If trusting in God has been the pivotal point of my previous devotions, now God is telling me something new in the menu. Fear. I can feel that I am getting into the "Trust" thing now. I fear not what's coming tomorrow  because I know that my Big God will take care of everything. Now I will get this Holy Fear into my system so God's secret will be revealed to me, and that I and my descendants may dwell in prosperity.

Most of the times, actually even now, the devil injecting evil thoughts in my mind... reminding me of all the previous sins that I have committed and of my current failures of coming back and embracing the old sins that has been part of my history. Now, whenever this happen again,  I will pray with will all sincerity the psalmist prayer in verse 7. I know my God will not see me through my history but God will remember the FORGIVEN ME, and He will keep my soul and deliver me from all these evil attacks.

PRAYER

Show me Your ways, Lord. Teach me Your paths, and make me walk on it. Keep my soul and deliver me from the haunting whisper of evil thoughts. I know You have saved me, You bought me with a price. I am saved and delivered, let me always remember that.

Day 24 - He owns e-v-e-r-y thing.

READING
  • Genesis 24
  • Psalms 24
  • Proverbs 24
  • Matthew 24

MESSAGE

Psalms 24: 1, 3 and 4

1. The earth is the Lord's and all its fullness,

The world and those who dwell therein.

3. Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord?
Or who may stand in His holy place?

4. He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol,
Nor sworn deceitfully.

Today God is reminding me that I do not own anything in this world including myself that is of me, and that I fully belong to Him and everything around me. And so, I should keep my self clean and pure that I may be worthy to be welcomed to ascend to God's holy place. I must keep my gate and our door open-wide, all the aspects of my life : the physical, my mind and my soul, so the King of glory could come in and dwell within us.

PROMISE

Proverbs 24:5

He shall receive blessing from the Lord,
And righteousness from the God of his salvation.

COMMAND

Lift up your heads,
O you gates!
And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.

WARNING

APPLICATION

I will continue to trust in the Lord, the owner of everything here on earth. God is in control over all the affairs of this world, the big ones and even the small ones. No matter how minute my PR case is, I know my God cares so much about it. He owns the world and everything living in it... even my boss... He owns her. :)

At all circumstances, I will keep my life open for service to the King of glory. As a part of the leadership team, I will never make excuses if I am assigned to any project but instead, I will  be excited to every given opportunity to be of service to my almighty God.

Verses 3 and 5 present a great bargain to me if I will keep my hands clean and my heart pure before God's sight. Keeping myself pleasing before the Lord brings a lot of benefits : 1) it allows me to get close to God's presence; 2) it sustains me that I can stand in His holy place; 3) I will receive blessing from the Lord; 4) and receive righteousness from Him. So, at all times,  I will strive to keep my life holy and acceptable before Him.

PRAYER

Lord, I am so blessed to know that You, my God, is so BIG and so GREAT! You own everything... and You hold everything in Your hand. I fully trust Your amazing power! Lord, help me to continue to keep my full trust in You. Show me Your glory and let me know Your ways. Let your very presence shine through all my days.

Day 23 - I am a happy lamb!

I am a happy lamb!
READING

  • Genesis 23
  • Psalms 23
  • Proverbs 23
  • Matthew 23

MESSAGE

Proverbs 23 : 5

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.

Today, God is telling me how special I am before Him... that He will prepare a feast of blessings for me and let the enemies (my antagonists, ill-wishers, competitor) drool enviously. I remember I had a chat with Pastor Michael about my chaotic work schedule and why I am not getting a weekend off. I shared to him how everybody badly wants off on the weekends and how my workmates get so green-eyed whenever I get the favor. This is what he told me, "hayaan mo talagang kaiinggitan ang mga pinapaboran ni Lord," and I believe the psalmist is saying exactly the same thing. I feel so blessed that God has chosen to anoint my head with oil - this means God is choosing and ordaining me to be a part of His great army, and He only did not equip me, but He filled me with overflowing joy, talents and blessings.

PROMISE

Psalms 23 : 2, 6

2. He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside still water.

6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever

COMMAND

WARNING

APPLICATION

Starting today, I will let myself sit and enjoy the feast that God has prepared for me even if it maddens other people especially my workmates. Sometimes it stops me from rejoicing because it makes me feel guilty that I enjoy some privilege at work while others do not, but Psalms 23 is telling me, No! Stop being guilty, sit down, relax, and enjoy! Life is beautiful.

Most of the times, the green pasture is just around the corner but I am just too hard-headed and lazy to lie down. The Great Shepherd wants me to lie down and relax in the green lands... I must  obey and lie down.

Starting today, I will enjoy, the peaceful and easy job that God has given me. I will drink from the still waters where He lead me to.

PRAYER

Lord thank you for your abounding love and mercy for me. Though I am weak, you make me strong. You have put me on the right ministry where I can serve You fully, housed me in the right church where I can grow and mature on faith and You placed me here in this country that abounds with all the good things in life.

Thank you for showing Your favor on me to other people. I pray that they would not feel bad to see that I am getting so much blessing from You, but instead, they will get curious and envious that they will desire to know the God who is blessing me with this overflowing grace. Let Your love and light shine through me, Your humble servant. Your happy lamb.
