Day 19 - Hidden and Presumptuous

READING

Genesis 19
Psalms 19
Proverbs 19
Matthew 19

MESSAGE
Psalms 19 : 12 - 14

12. Who can understand his errors?
Cleanse me from secret faults.

13. Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins;
Let them not have dominion over me.
Then I shall be blameless,
And I shall be innocent of great transgression.

14. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.

God is convicting me today to make this passage be the prayer of my heart for all the secret faults that I have left hidden in my heart. I know God is working on my blemishes. He knows the very prayer of my heart, my desire to walk on His way, blameless and pure... so that the prayers of my heart be acceptable before Him.

PROMISE

Psalms 19: 9

The Fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether,

COMMAND

WARNING

What are HIDDEN FAULTS and PRESUMPTUOUS SINS?

David sees a difference between, on the one hand, sins that we commit because they baffle us and sneak up on us ["hidden faults" of verse 12], and on the other hand, sins that we commit because we presume to know better than God or presume that sin is no big deal ["presumptuous sins" of verse 13].
The point is not that there is a special category of extra-bad sins, like murder, rape, treason, etc. The point is that there is a special category of sinning — namely, sinning in arrogant defiance of a known law. It’s not so much what you do that puts sinning in this category as whether you do it with forethought and defiance and rebellion. This is what David calls presumptuous sins. They are fully intentional, with our eyes open, and with a heart that says, 'I know God says this is wrong and harmful, but I just don’t care what God thinks; I’m going to do it anyway.' (Sermon)

Letting yourself to sin again because you believe that God understands and that He will forgive you is an example of a PRESUMPTUOUS SIN.

APPLICATION

Starting this very night, as I lay down on my prayer bed, I will ask the Lord to purge the roots of any recurring sins that I normally commit everyday. I will ask God to let the Holy Spirit guide me and clear off my mind, that I may not be guilty of hidden faults; and to give me the will and the power to resist temptations that will lead me to  committing presumptuous sins.

No one but God can better understand my secret faults. If I am being attacked by the faults that I have done in the past, I will always keep this in mind, GOD UNDERSTANDS.

I will list an inventory of all my recurring sins in the past and share this to my accountability partner. This way, I will have somebody to watch over me, pray for me and rebuke me if I am about to commit the same mistake again.

PRAYER

Lord, guide me on my walk with you. I wanna serve you with a blemish-free spirit. Keep me from sinning that I may not be guilty of any hidden nor secret faults and presumptuous sins. I wanted to continue on my calling with a pure heart and a peaceful mind. I know You love me and You have chosen me for a purpose. Strengthen my heart and my spirit that I may not sin against You, my Lord, my Master.

Day 18 - Isolation is unhealthy

READING

Genesis 18
Psalms 18
Proverbs 18
Matthew 18

MESSAGE

Proverbs 18 : 1 - 2, 15

1. A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire;
He rages against all wise judgement.

2. A fool has no delight in understanding,
But in expressing his own heart.

15. The heart of the prudent acquires knowledge,
And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

The Lord is teaching me today that isolation is not a healthy option at times when evil attacks. Being too emo is not healthy either as it closes one's ears to sensible advices from mature and wise people like the elders of the church.

PROMISE

COMMAND

WARNING

Proverbs 18 : 13

He who answers a matter before he hears it,
It is folly and shame to him.

APPLICATION

I will keep Proverbs 18:1 in mind especially when I get into my life's low seasons. Oftentimes, I run into isolation thinking I need some space to think things over but the Bible says it's not healthy!

If I need advise for something, I will seek advise first from my church leaders and friends.

Listen first before making any judgement. Most of the times, I hurt people because of my unfair judgement. Verse 13 is telling me to practice RailRoad Crossing Motto : STOP, LOOK AND LISTEN

STOP isolating yourself, Henry

LOOK around for wise advise

LISTEN to Godly advise,

STOP, LOOK and LISTEN first before making judgement

PRAYER

Lord help me to be wise. I don't want my words and my judgement be the stumbling block of others. Keep me away from running into isolation whenever I encounter problems and torments. Surround me with wise and joyous friends that rejoice with good and righteous things.

  • Psalms 17
  • proverbs 17
  • Matthew 17

" I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.

2. "And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly,"

God is giving me an affirmation today that if I will continually walk before him blameless, (which is a super extra mega challenge)  He will keep His promise of abundance and prosperity.

PROMISE

Proverbs 17 : 6

"I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.

COMMAND

1. When Abaraham was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him,
" I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.

WARNING

APPLICATION

I will continue on my Christian walk bearing in mind that I should keep my walk blameless. How will I do it? Hmmm... Its kinda hard but I will take it one step at a time. I will start by keeping my eye clean. I will stop looking at anybody with a  judgemental and a lustful eye.

I will claim God's promise that He will make me exceedingly fruitful especially at times when I feel that I am getting short with my finances. Remember the formula blameless walk = exceedingly fruitful.

I will keep and continue on my covenant with the Lord through religiously giving my tithes.

PRAYER

Lord help me on my walk with you. Help me to make it blameless that I may please You and You shall keep your covenant with me. I claim your promise of fruitfulness and abundance in all the aspects of my life.

Proverbs 16 : 1 & 9

1. The preparations of the heart belong to man,
But the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.

9. A man's heart plans his way,
But the Lord directs his steps.

God is reminding me that whatever plans I have made are all subject to His decision and plans for me. The final answer is always the Lord's. These verses teaches me not get disheartened when my plans do not succeed but rejoice instead for God is redirecting it into something that is best for me.

And your thoughts will be established.

7. When a man's ways please the Lord,
He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

COMMAND

3. Commit your works to the Lord
And your thoughts will be established.

WARNING

28. A perverse man sows strife,

And a whisperer separates the best of friends.

APPLICATION

I will not get disheartened that all my preparations for the processing of my permanent residence brought me nothing. Yes I was disappointed but God is giving me a promise today that He has something better in store for me.  I will commit everything to Him who knows what's best for me. Unto Him whose plans for me is to make me prosper and get unharmed.

I will be more careful about choosing friends, especially gossiping friends. That's what verse 28 is teaching me today.

In everything that I do here at my workplace, I will do it good not to please man but to please my God. Doing so, will keep me at peace with my enemies.

PRAYER

Lord help me to keep my trust directed to You alone. Sometimes it seems like your plan hurts mine, sometimes it makes me think that You do not care about me getting hurt with all the things happening in my life right now. But you promised on your Word that if I commit everything unto You, you will have my thoughts established. Direct my heart oh Lord that I may not perverse from your will. Straighten my walk that it may please You.Amen

Day 14 - WAIT!!! Why did you doubt?

READING

  • GENESIS 14
  • PSALMS 14
  • PROVERBS 14
  • MATTHEW 14

MESSAGE

Matthew 14 : 31

And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?"

Today, God is rebuking me point-blank about my status of my faith in Him. Peter's walking-over-the-waters story made me realized the Great Miracles that God wants me to experience in my life. He wants me to be able to walk over the waters like Him.  I am already there, I have taken my step out of the boat, out of my comfort zone.  I have taken some few steps away from the boat, and I am now walking over the water. But like Peter, when boisterous wind of ugly circumstances blow, I easily give up and doubt his ways and plans for me. And so I began to sink... and so this is what God is saying to me now, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?"

PROMISE

COMMAND

Matthew 14 : 29

So He said, "Come." ...

WARNING

APPLICATION

No matter what I heard from other people, starting today, I will never listen to any other but God's Word and revelation to me. Opportunities for new jobs are popping here and there but God's word to me is WAIT! And I believe that God's plan for me is always the best, not better, but simply the best. And no matter how stupid it may seems through the carnal eyes, I will firmly say NO, I'm waiting for God's Best.

Keep on pressing towards the goal. I know God wants me to get my permanent residence here in Canada that is why God brought me here. I will never loose hope and give up. If wait is God's keyword, then I will wait. God's timing is always perfect. Not too early, not too late, but just on time. I will put my trust in the Lord.

God is inviting me to come and try. I will heed His invitation like what Peter did... but give my FULL trust so I will not sink like how Peter did.

PRAYER

Lord give me the patience so I can wait for your perfect timing. I know that your words never failed and all your promises are true. Let me accept your invitation. I wanted to come to you and walk on your steps to righteousness.

Day 13

READING
  • GENESIS 13
  • PSALMS 13
  • PROVERBS 13
  • MATTHEW 13

MESSAGE

Matthew 13 : 20 - 21

20. "But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy;

21."yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.

On His Word today, God is alarming me about the kind of heart that I have when it comes to responding to His Words/ commandments/ revelation to me. Is my heart like a stony place? I have been attending a Christian church all my life but why am I not maturing at all? Is it because of my circumstances in life, or I just chose not to grow because I don't wanna be mature?

PROMISE

Matthew 13: 12

"For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance;
but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him."

COMMAND

Matthew 13 : 9

"He who has ears to hear, let him hear."

WARNING

Matthew 13: 12

"For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance;
but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him."

APPLICATION

I will continue on improving my MPCWA. I'll make it more truthful, honest and bold.  I will ignore not what God has truly been impressing on my heart, though it may sound ugly to others or it will make me look ugly to others, I must include it here.

PRAYER

Lord, I am so sorry if I sometime ignore Your revelations to me. I have been attending the church all my life but I can still feel that void space in me. Empty my cup, fill me up Lord that I may overflow.
